The entire is on the tape, and one can hear the crowd yelling hysterically for the members of the. band when they enter. the masses of the audience are audible on this tape; probably they were quite fanatical, for after "Heroes" Bowie says: "We don't want anybody hurt, don't push too much down there".
After Space Oddity Bowie says in a very low voice "Thank you" ,it sounds as though he is not entirely at easy, playing in this large stadium. "It's very big you know, this one" he says. "This is a very old song" Bowie says to the 20.000 headed crowd.

My man & I went to both performances, seated in excellent seats on each night, albeit on different sides of the venue. Bowie wore the same suit(s) both nights which initially surprised me the second night…then I posited they were recording each performance & would edit them together such that it appeared to be one seamless performance. This proved true as when the videos appeared it was clear to me (eidetic memory) that they edited both night’s performances into the one video.
On the second night, one of the beachballs (planet earth) was tossed to Bowie & he held it aloft. Those visual moments were edited into the audio from the FIRST night. I doubt anyone would have noticed (as the edits were truly seamless) but with my weird brain, I noticed INSTANTLY. I was DELIGHTED.
The highlight of the concerts were for me his performance(s) of “Fame” which galvanized the crowd EACH NIGHT. He was quintessentially the “Thin White Duke”. The man could wear a suit. Bowie’s vocal range and emotion made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. He was a consumate professional and an artistic delight.
Another FACT which DELIGHTED me was thus: despite the second performance mirroring the first, his performance FELT spontaneous and his PASSION for the music was tangible each night. Each song. It was not a retread, but a spontaneous emotive outpouring each and every song.
The energy: both from him and the crowd, was tangible and he was clearly enjoying himself. I recall Bpwie flashed a boyish grin in the direction of one Vancouver hottie who flashed her bare boobies in tribute. We were seated directly behind her (she atop her man’s shoulders) & imo Bowie definately NOTICED her “homage” to his talent…I could be mistaken…but it was a very cute, human…moment.
Each night remains a treasured memory. I was so stoked to see him live. I had hitchiked to town as an 11 year old girl after hearing ONE song on the radio. I could find no LP in the stacks & asked the dude at the store for help. He told me they had no Bowie LP’s as yet, but he excitedly told me that he had ~ at home ~ a copy of “Starting Place” & “Hunky Dory” which he ordered direct from the UK. He kindly provided me with the cost of each album and the address. I hitchhiked home, hastily wrote a letter requesting they send me both albums…I was too young to have a chequing account and too inexperienced to know I was not supposed to send COINS & CASH in an envelope…so I did.
His record label exec was VERY COOL as I had not converted the cost (in British Pounds Sterling) to CAD, so sent them INSUFFICIENT FUNDS. Rather than send me the one album, they kindly sent both with a lovely handwritten letter which sweetly explained their small kindness. They were touched they said, that a little girl was so taken by his ONE song that she “took a pilgrimage” to the local record store. I had, in my girlish excitement, related my little adventure to them. It was one of the first time I hitchiked and the first time I spent money I had earned (with my afterschool job).
I played those records on my child’s turntable.
Bowie DID NOT DISAPPOINT all those years later, when I FINALLY got to see him LIVE.
Words fail me. It was a wonderful experience. I felt so LUCKY to be a witness to such TALENT.
The person on the front cover picture of this album is NOT David Bowie but David Brighton from the the tribute band “Space Oddity”

Hi John,
Thank you for the information
Greeting
Diedrich
This concert was definitely in the Pacific Coliseum. Both my wife and i were there, even though we didn’t meet until 19 years later! Theres no way there was 53k people there. Pacific Coliseum has max 20K seating even if people where seated behind the stage.
BC Place Stadium construction was completed in 1983, but was NOT the venue for the concert.
